In Brief: Mechan, JWPCreers cleans up at Olympics, Warhol and Santander help Stephen Neall

SHEFFIELD-BASED rail industry specialist Mechan is launching a range of energy efficient shunters onto the UK market, offering a greener alternative to the diesel engines currently used in rail depots.

Mechan has secured a deal to become the sole UK and Ireland supplier of the award winning Zwiehoff electrically powered road and rail shunters, which are carbon neutral.

The shunters were premiered at last year’s global transport exhibition, InnoTrans, held in Berlin where Mechan discovered them and expressed an interest in adding the products to its own range of depot handling equipment.

I have dreamed of owning this terrific building and the renovations have been inspired by Andy Warhol’s original studio, ‘The Factory’, in New York. Our Harrogate Factory will be a nod to his creativity and influence on modern design.”
