International expansion to be nursed by Mamas & Papas

NURSERY products firm Mamas & Papas saw revenues remain broadly flat last year but is predicting growth from overseas operations.

The Huddersfield-based group saw turnover dip to £134.7m in the year to April 1 2012, down slightly from £135.1m the previous year.

The group sees opportunities internationally and is to open a store in Beijing in China in April. The launch comes on the back of increased overseas turnover of £26.6m.

The group traded in 36 overseas markets in its last financial year.

Mamas & Papas posted a loss after tax of £1.09m compared to £1.2m the previous year. EBITDA profit was down by £1m at £4.4m.

The family company, run by the Scacchetti family, is also opening a store at the Trinity Leeds development.
