Get your trainers on for Clarion Leeds 10K Corporate Challenge

THEY’RE used to doing battle in the boardroom but now scores of Yorkshire companies are preparing to take part in this year’s Clarion Leeds 10K Corporate Challenge.

The hotly-contested competition – part of the popular Asda Foundation Leeds 10K – is the biggest corporate challenge in the region, each year attracting hundreds of businessmen and women who pit both their wits and physical prowess against each other.

TheBusinessDesk.com is the official media partner of the Clarion Leeds 10K Corporate Challenge.

Teams who sign up to take part, will not only challenge each other to be first past the finishing post in this year’s Leeds 10K on July 14, they will also use their brain and brawns to be crowned winners of a Cryptic Quest event at a special pre-race networking night.

Entries for the Clarion Corporate Challenge were officially opened when the event was launched in Leeds city centre by Clarion – loyal sponsors of the challenge for the last seven years – Run For All and representatives from Halifax-based Leo Group, who were the biggest fundraisers in last year’s event.

Clarion senior partner Roger Hutton said: “Seven years on this is the event that just keeps on growing.

“The Clarion Corporate Challenge has really caught the imagination of the Yorkshire business community – organisations successfully combine employee engagement with some good old fashioned business competition!”

Run For All’s Mike Tomlinson said: “The Clarion Corporate Challenge goes from strength to strength
every year and has become a key event in the business calendar in Leeds.

“It’s a great fun event that is great for team-building and firing up colleagues’ competitive spirits! We’re grateful as always for Clarion’s very loyal support.”

Last year the Leo Group entered a team of 10 runners and brought in an impressive £4,897 for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal. This year, Leo Group are aiming even higher and will share funds raised between the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Macmillan, Martin House Children’s Hospice, Leeds Children’s Hospital, the Alzheimer’s Society and Yorkshire Cancer Research.

Leo Group’s group property manager Brian Maguire said the company was thrilled to be a part of the Clarion Corporate Challenge.

He said: “We had a great time last year and are already looking forward to this year’s event. It brought us closer as a team and we all encouraged each other in getting out training and raising money for a really worthwhile cause.”

Entry to the corporate challenge for a team of 10 runners is £550, or smaller firms can enter a team of five for £275.
