GC Motors, the Yorkshire-based prestige and sports car specialist, has invested £100,000 in a refurbishment.

The family-owned Harrogate business, which opened in 2008, has invested in its service department, allowing its technicians to work on six cars at any mone time.

The refurbishment follows a £75,000 investment into the latest diagnostic equipment.

The investment in the latest state of the art technology enables us to cater for all of customers vehicle needs from simple diagnostics to fine performance tuning.”

BYTEMARK Hosting, a York-based internet firm with a £2.5m turnover and clients including the NHS and ecommerce sites, has invested £1.2m to launch its first wholly-owned data centre ready by May.

Matthew Bloch, its managing director, commented: “We’ve previously outsourced data centre floor space in Manchester and London, so by putting the profits back into the business and opening our own facility, we’ll have complete control over both costs and setup.  We will also be able to expand our service offerings through our new site, offering customers resilient hosting between two cities.

The new data centre will have room for several thousand servers, doubling Bytemark’s current capacity, with 20Gb/sec of connectivity via a 10Gb/sec diverse fibre ring between York, Leeds and Manchester and London.

A YORKSHIRE-BASED student accommodation provider has awarded a five figure contract to supply plasma TVs to its 700 strong property portfolio to The Co-operative Electrical.

Hull-based The Kexgill Group, the privately held student accommodation group, with properties spanning nine cities across the north of England and the Midlands, already banks with The Co-operative.

Established in 1978, by current chairman Mike Lee following his graduation from Hull University, the company also owns a portfolio of residential properties in Germany.

PLEXUS Law has been appointed to the Government Procurement Services Legal Services Framework Agreement.

The move for the national firm, which has offices in Leeds, follows its appointment last year to the external panel of legal advisers to the Metropolitan Police.

Simon Hills, the Northern based head of Plexus Law’s public sector division, said: “It is pleasing that our regional offices in the North are continuing to contribute successfully to securing appointments to national panels such as this.”
