Business Moves: Hotel appoints ahead of multi-million pound refurbishment and more

A round-up of the region’s appointments.
KENWOOD Hall Hotel in Sheffield has appointed a new general manager ahead of a multi-million pound refurbishment programme.
Andrew Wright takes over the reigns of the four-star Kenwood Hall Hotel after spending almost a decade in the hospitality industry.
A graduate of the Norwich Hotel School in 1999, Mr Wright has held managerial positions in five hotels, including ones in Scarborough, York and the Midlands.
He said: “Kenwood Hall is steeped in history and has become a favourite destination point for the city of Sheffield. It is very exciting to be joining the hotel as it embarks on this refurbishment programme.”
Kenwood Hall Hotel, which has 114 bedrooms, a leisure club and its own fishing lake, was acquired by the Principal-Hayley group last December.

HUDDERSFIELD-BASED fleet performance improvement company FMG Support has appointed Nigel Squires, former head of automotive for RAC Corporate Partnerships, as its head of business development.
His role will focus on creating future opportunities in complementary markets as well as expanding current service areas, including direct fleet, contract hire and leasing partners.
With a career in the automotive industry spanning 15 years, Mr Squires has expertise in managing and developing relationships at the highest level, and has been responsible for a customer portfolio that includes the top 10 largest fleet partners and a wide range of motor manufacturers.
He was instrumental in implementing Volkswagen Group’s roadside assistance programme in 2007, and received the chief executive’s award for sales performance in his role with RAC Business Solutions.
Nick Brown, chief executive, FMG Support said: “Following our investment from private equity firm Aberdeen earlier this year, we are looking at ambitious and innovative growth plans for the future that enable us to attract talented industry individuals like Nigel. Looking ahead, we are working towards exciting opportunities in complementary markets for FMG Support as well as growing our existing channels.”

BARNSLEY Premier Leisure, the charitable company responsible for managing the leisure facilities and swimming pools across the borough, has appointed a new chairman of its board of trustees.
Doctor David Hicks was appointed as chairman of Barnsley Premier Leisure on August 15.
Barnsley Premier Leisure’s chief executive, James Starbuck, said “We are delighted to announce that Doctor David Hicks has agreed to become our new chairman. As an existing trustee, David is fully aware of the important role BPL undertakes in providing sporting and leisure opportunities for our local communities and for adding value to what the town has to offer.
Mr Hicks has worked at Barnsley Hospital for 25 years.
He has acted as chief executive and is currently the medical director/deputy chief executive.
