Administrators announce HMV stores closures

A NUMBER of HMV stores in Yorkshire are set to close.
The music and entertainment retail chain’s administrators said 66 HMV stories had been indentified for closure.
These include stores in Barnsley, Chesterfield, Huddersfield, at the White Rose Centre in Leeds, and Wakefield.
The affected stores employ 930 staff but no date has yet been set for the closure of the stores, joint administrators at Deloitte said.
However, it is expected that the closures will take place over the next one to two months.
HMV currently operates from 220 stores in the UK.
Nick Edwards, joint administrator, said: “As part of our ongoing review of HMV’s financial position, we have now completed a review of the store portfolio and have identified 66 loss making stores for closure.
“This step has been taken in order to enhance the prospects of securing the business’ future as a going concern.”
