Appointments: Irwin Mitchell; Newtons Solicitors; hlw Keeble Hawson

THE Sheffield office of law firm Irwin Mitchell has recruited corporate solicitor Ian Chambers from Addleshaw Goddard in Leeds.
Chambers, who studied law at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at Sheffield University, specialises in advising businesses on acquisitions, disposals, mergers and restructuring.
He works with both small and medium-sized organisations across a range of sectors including manufacturing, retail and financial services.
He is the latest member of Irwin Mitchell’s fast-growing corporate department in Sheffield and his appointment follows the organisation’s recent recruitment of senior dealmakers Andrea Cropley from Nabarro and Matt Ainsworth from DLA Piper.

THREE new directors have been appointed by one of North Yorkshire’s fastest-growing law firms.
The new directors, practicing in dispute resolution, private client and property have been appointed by Newtons solicitors, which has offices in Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon and York.
They are senior solicitors Rob Minors, who heads up dispute resolution, Elizabeth Webb, who runs the firm’s wills, probate and tax planning department and the head of property, John Paice, who also manages the newly-launched York office at Northminster Business Park.
The directors will work within separate divisions and report to managing director Chris Newton, who founded the business with his wife and fellow director, Sarah, in 2009.

AN internal promotion and a partner appointment have been made at law firm hlw Keeble Hawson, boosting its Leeds team.
Joining the firm from Ward Hadaway is property litigation specialist Philip O’Loughlin, whilst experienced commercial litigator Rachel Crookes is promoted from associate to partner.
Having dealt with all aspects of property litigation for more than 20 years, O’Loughlin has acted for a broad range of clients, from government departments and local authorities to international PLCs, private development and investment companies and individuals.
Moving up to partner, Crookes has particular expertise in the areas of director and shareholder disputes, contractual disputes, professional negligence and civil fraud and represents the firm on the Fraud Prevention Forum.
