Engineering group launches new division in response to demand

POINT Engineering Group has launched a new division in response to a huge increase in demand for electrical services.

The Point Engineering Electrical Division will provide electrical installation and contracting for industrial and marine clients, particularly in the modular building sector.

Hull-based Point Engineering, which now employs 34 staff, has taken on 4 new members of staff in the venture and hopes to employ more as the division becomes established.

Managing director, Steve Norton, said: “We have existing fabrication contracts in the modular building industry for which the division will be utilised immediately, but it also presents excellent opportunities for growth in all the sectors the company operates.”

Mr Norton said the business saw a demand for a “one-stop shop”, with customers wanting the full package under one contract.

He said: “Everything is now under one contract for the customer and we have seen a big demand for our services going across the different disciplines.

“This is exciting and good for the business. We see it certainly assisting with growth.”

Point Engineering has invested heavily in machinery over the last few years and has been involved in high profile projects including infrastructure work for the London 2012 Olympics, supplying ballistic and blast proof doors for vessels working off the Somalian coast and manufacturing flood defence enclosures. The company works in the marine, renewables, modular building, leisure and industrial sectors.

Financial director, Jonathan Rollison, said: “We have launched the new electrical division without outside assistance and I have no doubt the expansion will present more opportunities to develop further.”
