Business school students boosted by Sagar Wright scholarships

HEADHUNTING consultancy Sagar Wright has awarded two talented Leeds Metropolitan University Business School students a £1,000 scholarship.

Kirsty Ram and Bethany Ward, who are both due to graduate next month, powered through the rigorous annual application and interview process to be crowned the winners.

The Sagar Wright Scholarships reward outstanding final year Leeds Met undergraduates studying in the Faculty of Business and Law.

Ram, who will graduate in BSc (Hons) Marketing and Advertising Management, said: “It was an intense four-stage process where I had to show effective negotiation, persuasion and communication skills through a series of role plays. One included negotiating a real life business deal to meet a fictitious company’s requirements.

“The process was overall a great experience and very challenging but stimulating.”

Ward, who will graduate from her law degree next month, added: “I was encouraged by my final year tutor to apply for the award. The scholarship was a great process to be a part of and was a real learning curve in terms of helping me to better understand the ins and outs of the headhunting industry and business in general.”

Based in Leeds, Sagar Wright recruits at least 12 graduates annually and grows by 30% on average every year, effectively doubling in size every two to three years.

As part of its investment in people programme, it has recently embarked on a partnership with Leeds Metropolitan University which includes sponsorship of two of its lecture theatres in the Rose Bowl building, and the philanthropic provision of scholarships for highly skilled students.
