EMIS welcomes new chief exec

EMIS Group has today announced Chris Spencer as chief executive.

Mr Spencer was previously EMIS’s chief administrative officer and has been the GP and pharmacy software supplier’s interim chief executive since March. He takes over from Sean Riddell, the man who played a major part in the growth of EMIS after he stepped down earlier this year to spend more time with his family.

Mike O’Leary, chairman of Leeds-based EMIS, said: “Chris has been deeply involved in all aspects of EMIS’s commercial, operational and strategic management for the last 14 years and he has transitioned seamlessly into his leadership role over the past months. 

“The board is delighted to confirm Chris in the role on an on-going basis and we look forward to working with him and the rest of the executive team to ensure EMIS’s continuing success at the forefront of UK healthcare technology.”
 
Mr Spencer said: “I take the helm at an exciting time for the business with new opportunities opening up in community, child and mental health alongside continuing work delivering and even more fully integrating our industry-leading software for GPs and community pharmacists.”
