ITM Power, the Sheffield-based energy storage and clean fuel company, has today announced a performance improvement to its rapid response stack platform, enabling hydrogen output to be increased by 11%.

ITM Power CTO, Dr Simon Bourne, said: “I am very pleased to report the increased output from our flagship stack platform.  At any one time, there are many activities within the R&D pipeline and today’s announcement marks the all-important transition into product for one of them.”

It also announced that its German power-to-gas project is now entering the build phase and said its EcoIsland Project is proceeding ahead of schedule with the design work largely complete and long lead time components ordered. 

Dr Bourne said: “In addition, delivery to our two largest projects is proceeding to plan, which will give us – in the relatively short term – reference sites to demonstrate the significant environmental benefits that our technology can deliver in the real world.” 


VALVE manufacturer Koso Kent Introl (KKI) has announced it has secured a further two-years on its prestigious contract with Statoil Petroleum AS in Norway.

The Brighouse-based firm manufactures and exports a variety of valves to the oil and gas, petrochemical and power industries worldwide.

David Limb, KKI’s sales director said: “We are delighted to announce the extension of our framework agreement with Statoil Petroleum. Our relationship spans almost four decades.

“During this current frame agreement period, Statoil has purchased valves/spares from KKI to a value exceeding £18.5m. This includes products for new-build projects, upgrades and modifications, and replacement units. We look forward to another successful couple of years.”

LAW firm Bond Dickinson has renewed its sponsorship deal with Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

Bond Dickinson has teamed up once more with the YCCC Academy team, having become its first official sponsor in 2012.

Alistair Scott-Somers, a corporate partner at Bond Dickinson based in Leeds said: “We are delighted to continue to sponsor the YCCC Academy again this year, following the Club’s 150th Anniversary year. The Academy has produced some fantastically talented home-grown players for Yorkshire and is the envy of other cricketing counties across the country.”

Ian Dews, head of the YCC Academy, said: “The Yorkshire Cricket Academy was started by Brian Close and Bob Appleyard back in the early 1980s and has gone on to nurture some of the game’s most talented exponents, including Michael Vaughan, Darren Gough and Johnny Bairstow.

“We are thrilled that Bond Dickinson has agreed to continue to act as official sponsor of the Yorkshire Cricket Academy.”

KC has completed a £1m refurbishment of its headquarters in Hull city centre.

Work began 12 months ago at KC’s main office in Carr Lane, where around 500 employees are based, to make enhancements to the office space and improvements to customer facing areas.

The work was carried out by local construction firm Hall Construction Group.
Sean Royce, KC’s wholesale, regulatory and finance director, said “We wanted to improve the working environment for our people and give our customers a much better experience when they visit our offices.”

THOUSANDS of small Yorkshire businesses are in line to benefit from more efficient payments.

Technology start-up GoCardless has launched in Yorkshire this week which was founded by graduates Matt Robinson, Hiroki Takeuchi and Tom Blomfield, has developed a simple online tool that SMEs can use to collect direct debits quickly and cost effectively.

Mr Robinson said: “Yorkshire is the perfect place to start our regional push and we hope to have thousands of firms signed up and benefitting by the end of the year.”
