Disposables UK makes move to new site

DISPOSABLES UK has its sights set on further growth after making its move to its new 150,000 sq ft premises.

The family-run business based in Meltham near Huddersfield officially opened the doors to its new site with the help of Huddersfield Giants rugby star and England International Eorl Crabtree.

The company, which manufactures and distributes paper disposables and associated cleaning and hygiene products for the ‘away from home market’, was previously based across four sites totalling 107,000 sq ft.

The strategic move to larger premises allows Disposables UK to consolidate its operations and provide a faster turnaround time on producing goods.

The move, which cost in the region of £700,000, is part of Disposables UK’s five year growth plan to almost double its current £16m turnover to £30m by 2018.

Disposables UK, which is the one of the largest employers in Meltham, has also recently invested £1.7m in new machinery.

Managing director David Burkill said: “We are delighted to finally open the doors to our brand new site and to celebrate another milestone in our history. Manufacturing is at the heart of our business and this move has not only allowed us to streamline our processes, but reinvest in our machinery, systems and people.

“We have been operating in the region for 26 years now so staying local was extremely important to us. We have 100 staff and by staying in Meltham we are helping to safeguard their jobs.”
