Legal Appointments: New partner at Russell Jones & Walker and more

A round-up of the region’s legal appointments.

SHEFFIELD-BASED law firm Russell Jones & Walker has announced the appointment of a new partner within its personal injury division.

Kimberley Owen is an expert in maximum severity claims and brings with her specific expertise in head and brain injury cases.

Ms Owen qualified as a solicitor in 1998 and has since worked exclusively in the personal injury claims field.

Representing several high value cases, she has achieved settlements in excess of £1m, including £3.75m for a client who sustained a brain injury in a motorbike accident and £1.45m for a client who sustained a brain injury when knocked off his bicycle.

LEEDS and Bradford law firm Gordons has expanded its banking and finance department with the appointment of Adam Gatti, formerly an associate solicitor with Stephenson Harwood in London.

Mr Gatti trained with Pinsent Masons in Leeds with much of his time spent in banking and finance and corporate law, including a secondment at Northgate Information Solutions.

After qualifying, he moved to Stephenson Harwood where he worked as a finance lawyer.

Paddy Sturman, head of banking and finance at Gordons, said: “Adam is a fantastic appointment for us. He is an ambitious, talented lawyer who already has some great experience. I am looking forward to working with him to grow the banking and finance team at Gordons.”

Gordons’ banking clients include The Royal Bank of Scotland, Yorkshire Bank and Bank of Ireland.

FOX Hayes LLP has announced nine promotions – four of which are at board level or above – as the Leeds-based law firm continues to grow across the region.

Partner Marcus Armstrong, who heads the corporate department, now joins the executive board as the fourth executive partner.

HR manager Neil Towse, financial controller Hilary Harrison, head of IT Nicola Green and business development manager Graham Shiers all join the board as directors of the firm.

Harvey Harding, who plays an integral role within the firm’s nationally recognised residential conveyancing division, has been made a partner.

Other promotions across the company include corporate solicitor Stacey Grayshon who has been promoted to associate and Jane Bishop (conveyancing) and Janice Ferguson (re-mortgage) who have been made associate directors.

Philip Drazen, managing partner at Fox Hayes, said: “We are pleased to recognise the importance of key members of staff and the valuable contribution they are making to the on-going success of the firm – particularly in the current economic climate. All the promotions are extremely well deserved.”
