Lytag opens new plant at Drax

YORKSHIRE aggregate business Lytag has opened a new plant at Drax Power Station.

The new plant has created 20 new jobs and will provide companies with a “greener” alternative to quarried aggregate such as gravel and crushed rock.

North Yorkshire firm Lytag has built the facility due to growing demand for the material.

Gareth Moores, managing director of Lytag, said: “We are thrilled to open the new Lytag facility and play our part in upholding the region’s strong engineering expertise. So far, we have recruited 20 new employees to work at the new facility, and we hope to be able to create more jobs in the future.”

Peter Emery, production director at Drax, said: “The opening of the new facility is a very positive milestone for the power station and the local community. The new plant will be important in helping us to ensure recycling of the fly ash produced by our electricity generation process, which means more efficient use of our materials.”
