JPG secures part in new school project

CIVIL and structural engineers JPG has been appointed to consult on a new £6m West Yorkshire primary school.

JPG is working alongside main contractor Leeds-based Wates Construction to deliver a brand new 3,178 sq m building for Newlands Primary School in Morley, Leeds.

This will enable it to expand its capacity to provide 630 places for children aged three to 11 years and an additional 39 nursery places.

The new building is being built on the school’s playing fields and when completed, the existing 1960s school building will be demolished to make way for new sports fields, including a rugby league pitch, which will also be available for community use.

The project has been procured through the YORbuild construction framework, one of three construction frameworks that aim to provide a competitive procurement solution for local authorities, public sector and third sector bodies and their communities within the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Construction on the new Leeds City Council owned building begins this month, with completion scheduled for July next year.
