Dealmakers to show talents in Y Factor contest

DEALMAKERS from Yorkshire’s business community hope to raise more than £30,000 for charity with this year’s Leeds Y Factor event.
Contestants already lined up to take to the stage include Xavier Woodward of KPMG, Glenn Solan and Jenny Hopkins from Grant Thornton, Chris Clegg of Endless and Jonathan Thompson of Santander.
Leeds Y Factor raised £25,000 last year and the organisers are aiming for an even bigger target this year to support Mencap’s work with people with learning disabilities, their families and carers.
The contestants will be trying to impress a panel of judges that includes Nicki Allen, senior vocal coach at Leeds College of Music, as they try and emulate the success of last year’s winner, John Swarbrick of LDC.
Tony Norwood, investment director at LDC and one of this year’s performers, said: “The Leeds Y Factor event continues to go from strength to strength. We’ve assembled a great group of people together from right across the Leeds corporate finance community – everyone has committed to make this the best one ever, so it promises to be a cracking night.”
The event is sponsored by Walker Morris, Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets acquisition finance and Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance. TheBusinessDesk.com is the media partner and editor David Parkin will take the role of MC.
Simon Dixon, associate director at Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets’ acquisition finance in Yorkshire, said: “The tight-knit nature of the Yorkshire corporate finance community means we all look forward to this event and being able to get together and raise money for an important charity, whilst this year celebrating the positive outlook for deal making in the area.”
The Leeds Y Factor will take place on Thursday, October 7 at 7.30pm at The Wardrobe in Leeds. Tickets are available priced £30 by contacting Mencap on 0207 696 6006 or yfactor@mencap.org.uk. For event enquiries contact Anne Malia on 07852 189185 or email anne.malia@mrncap.org.uk.
