Firm leaves 1,200 holidaymakers stranded

HOLIDAY firm Sun4U has ceased trading leaving an estimated 1,200 people stranded abroad.
The majority of those stuck are believed to be in Spain and the firm’s website has a message on it advising customers to contact CEGA, the Association of British Travel Agents’ claims handlers.
It is not yet clear how many of those left stranded abroad will be repatriated.
A spokesman for Abta said: “There are approximately 1,200 people away at the moment and most of them are in Spain.
“Anyone who has booked a package holiday must contact the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) or contact the supplier named on their invoice.”
Abta said those with Air Travel Operators’ Licensing (Atol) packages should be able to continue with their holidays as planned.
The firm’s head office is in Navigation Street, in central Birmingham, and it employs around 40 staff.
