Appointments: Orchard Environmental; STG; Gordons

WASTE management firm Orchard Environmental has made two senior internal appointments as it prepares to expand in the North.

Justin Holley, who joined as business manager in 2010, has been appointed operations director and Chris Leach, who was recruited as sales manager a year ago will take on the role of associate director of sales.

Gareth Henderson, managing director of Elland-based Orchard Environmental, said the promotions followed a string of new business wins for the firm, which manages commercial waste and recycling including clinical and hazardous waste and washroom services.

“Justin and Chris’s new positions will ensure we have the right management team in place to expand and develop our team and secure the long term future of the business,” he said.

CONSTRUCTION and property services firm Strategic Team Group has appointed Peter Goodman as commercial financial controller.

The appointment is part of a planned strengthening of the commercial and finance departments as the Castleford company continues to win contracts across all its key market sectors.

Goodman joins the company from PwC where he worked with a host of well-known consumer brands such as Tommy Tippee and Sunseeker Yachts.

He has held key roles at each of the ‘Big Four’ accountancy practices and brings with him almost 15 years’ experience in developing systems and processes to support business growth.

This new role has been created to support the work of group financial director Simon Lazenby, who joined STG in February.

LAW firm Gordons has recruited four trainee lawyers.

Alice Robinson, Catie Woodward, Sam Cremore and Jenny Herdman have now begun two-year training contracts, which will see them each complete four six-month seats in a range of the firm’s departments.

During this time, they will benefit from close supervision and the opportunity to work alongside experienced lawyers, while receiving comprehensive training and support from throughout the firm.

Robinson and Woodward are initially working within Gordons’ personal injury team in Bradford, while Cremore has become part of its commercial litigation department there and Herdman has joined the firm’s commercial property specialists in Leeds.

Philip Paget, Gordons’ training partner, said: “We take on four trainees a year and the new appointees deserve congratulations, as there’s always fierce competition for these places. Our recruitment standards are also high – we make no secret of the fact that we’re seeking partners of the future, appointing only people who have shown the capacity to be involved in client work immediately and make valuable contributions to the firm and its success.”
