BHP’s brand new brand

Barber Harrison & Platt (BHP) has fast become the largest independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Yorkshire and to reflect the firm’s growth they’ve got a brand new brand.

Managing partner John Warner said: “As the firm has grown it has inevitably changed, so it was only natural that our corporate identity should evolve too. Our new look, like our firm, is progressive and supports our continued evolution.  We hope that people will start to recognise our ‘brand new brand’ as they see more of us in the future.”

Warner continued: “Whilst our appearance may have changed, our business has not.  We’re very proud of where we have come from and, building on such excellent foundations, we’re excited by where we are going.”

The firm now has 230 people including 17 partners and is turning over in excess of £12m. Compare that to three years ago, and you will see the firm has come a long way.

Warner said: “A combination of organic growth and two mergers in the last three years mean that we have a lot in common with other businesses which are going through rapid growth. We are constantly adjusting and developing as we grow.

“Having begun as a Sheffield and Chesterfield firm, our new offices in Leeds, York and Harrogate give us a truly regional presence, and our membership of Kreston International also makes us part of a team which spans 105 countries, so we can support our clients’ growth no matter where it takes them.”

The firm’s development has seen more experts joining the firm.

Advisory partner David Mitchell said: “Since BHP’s merger with Mitchells in 2011, Hamish Morrison (corporate finance partner), Amanda Waterhouse (tax partner) and, most recently, Mike Jackson (assurance and office managing partner) have joined our team in Leeds. My role has also evolved, and I now head up our Advisory team across all of our five regional offices.”

Mitchell’s new role is just an indication of some of the new service lines that BHP is stepping up to support ambitious companies throughout the region.

Warner added: “This year, through our merger with Barron & Barron in York we are pleased to welcome partner Guy Ward. Also, we’re proud of Zoe Roberts, who trained at the firm and has recently been promoted to tax partner.”

As part of BHP’s rebrand, the firm has also developed a new website.

Warner said: “We want businesses and individuals in Yorkshire to know what BHP has to offer and hope that our new brand will get their attention. There’s never been a better time for people to find out what we can do for them.”
