Shulmans celebrates solid growth

HALF year results for Shulmans commercial solicitors have seen the firm’s turnover rise by 25%.

Looking at figures up to September 30 2013, Leeds-based Shulmans has seen an increase in turnover to £8.4m, which it attributes to a strategy of solid growth through the targeting of new markets and the strategic appointment of key personnel.

The figures come on the back of three years of successive growth, with the firm ahead of its five year plan to grow the business by 50%.

Earlier this year, the firm, which employs 125 people, signed a deal to take half of the new 10 Wellington Place development in Leeds, as a fundamental part of its growth plan. It will move into the 15,000 sq ft premises, which is the first Grade A new office development in Leeds city centre for five years, in the first half of 2014.

Tim Halstead, managing partner of Shulmans, said: “We are delighted that the firm continues to demonstrate solid growth, not through mergers or acquisitions, but through our strategy of developing into new sectors, and by taking on talented new solicitors to join our team.

“We have appointed 15 new members of staff this year alone and we continue to expand our expertise into growing sectors such as telecoms and foreign investments into UK property.”
