MARTIN Poole, client relationship manager with Yorkshire business advisers and accountants Garbutt & Elliott, has been appointed a director of Business Support York and North Yorkshire (BSYNY).

Poole will be joined on the board of BSYNY by Charles Stent of solicitors Ware & Kay.

He said: “It is a privilege for me to join the board of such a significant North Yorkshire organisation which has been delivering quality business advice and support in the Yorkshire area for over 25 years.

“I am especially pleased to continue the Garbutt & Elliott tradition of supporting BSYNY. Our senior partner David Dickson was involved in its previous incarnation as York Business Development and in taking up this appointment I succeed our managing partner Russell Turner who has been on the Board of BSYNY since 2002.

“One of the most difficult and challenging jobs today is setting up and running a successful business. Most people have never had to be totally responsible for every aspect of their work and the prospect can be quite daunting. Many skills are called into play and the learning curve can be very steep indeed. BSYNY is here to help with tackling that learning curve and supporting new businesses.

“More specifically, BSYNY gets clients ready to start in business, including facilitated training under the New Enterprise Allowance scheme for those who are currently unemployed and the Young Entrepreneur Start up scheme for those aged 18 to 30.”
