Plans for Roman House unveiled

ROMAN House in York is set to be turned into luxury apartments.

Skelwith Group acquired the 35,000 sq ft building from Aviva earlier this year after it become surplus to its office requirements.

External plans have now been submitted to City of York Council to detail how the building will become 47 luxury apartments and according to Skelwith Group, the building will house some of the best apartments in York.

Architect Brewster Bye has redesigned the building to make it an iconic feature on the York landscape.  Extensive work will be done internally and externally with new windows, roof curtilage and a feature entrance to improve the look of the building and whole area.

Paul Ellis, managing director of Skelwith, said: “We believe that these plans will greatly enhance and rejuvenate this tired building into something that the city can be proud of. We strongly believe that the apartments will attract massive interest and be capitalise on the strength of the current property market. It will be highest profile apartment development in the city for many years.

“We are a proud York company and so are excited to work on this project which we believe will act as a major catalyst for further investment in this part of the city.”
