Businessman launches new venture following acquisition

A YORKSHIRE entrepreneur has launched a new venture providing portable appliance testing for businesses after acquiring Pat Man UK.

Jason Mace, managing director of Rotherham marquee manufacturer Gala Tent, has bought the client base and assets of Pat Man UK and set up Pat Man Company.

The business will be part of Gala Tent and based in Manvers, Rotherham. It will be headed up by managing director Chris Winterbourne, with a dedicated team of electrical engineers, and plans to expand the business over the coming months.

Pat Man will provide PAT testing, which complies with the Electricity at Work regulations and public/employee insurance liability requirements.

Mr Mace said: “We have spotted a gap in the market for an efficient and cost effective portable appliance testing service. We were offered a deal to acquire the customer base and assets of a reputable local business that needed help and so decided to expand our operations into this area.

“We expect to use our local business contacts to grow the client base and to create a number of new jobs over the next six months. This is the latest new business to be added to the Gala Tent portfolio and we are really excited about the opportunities for this new business in the South Yorkshire area and beyond.”

Regular PAT testing ensures a business complies with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Mr Mace also acquired a new wide format print business recently called Sign Man and relocated it from Thurcroft to Farfield Park in Manvers to extend the company’s bespoke branding services to customers.
