Designer outlet reports strongest ever results

THE rising ranks of savvy shoppers starting their Christmas shopping earlier have helped McArthurGlen’s York Designer Outlet report its strongest ever trading results.

The outlet reported an increase in like-for-like sales of 9% from October to December and saw a record-breaking first week of the sales (December 26 – January 2), compared with the same period last year. The outlet, recorded its highest ever sales on December 27 and an uplift of 21% on Boxing Day.

International shoppers also contributed to strong pre-Christmas trading with tax free spend up 17% year on year for November and December figures expected to show strong growth.
