Yorkshire business chiefs in running for IoD awards

SEVERAL Yorkshire directors, including Sheffield Forgemasters chief executive Graham Honeyman, are in the running to win a UK IoD Director of the Year Award.

The awards celebrate the best in UK business and is made up of the winners of the regional IoD Director of the Year Awards.

There are seven categories with the winner of each category going forward to compete for the overall UK Director of the Year award.

Stephen Martin, chief executive of construction group Clugston, has made the shortlist for the director of the year (large company) category.

Bradford businessman Balbir Panesar, of PEC Building Services, is in the running for the small and medium company award.

Mr Honeyman has made the shortlist in the global director of the year category, while both Purnima Tanuku, of the National Day Nurseries Association, and Suzy Brain England, of the Community Health Partnerships, are in the running for public sector director of the year.

Nick Heaton, of EnviroVent, is in line for the environment leader of the year award.

Other awards at the event, which is taking place in London on October 1, will be director of the year 2010 and the lifetime achievement award.
