THREE new care home projects worth an estimated £13.5m look set to cement a relationship between Yorkshire architect DWA and one of the UK’s largest care home operators.
Planning permission was granted last week for a contemporary 64-bed BUPA care home in Ashford; a planning decision is expected in early December on an 80-bed contemporary care home in Brighton and BUPA is currently in discussions with planners about a 64-bed home in Haywards Heath.
All have beed designed by York-based DWA Architects, which has headquarters in York, and offices in Warrington and London, and employs 80 people.

PROPERTY consultancy CB Richard Ellis is close to completing the refurbishment of prime office space in Leeds city centre.
The four-storey office building, St James House on Park Place, will boast a modern entrance, five floors of offices and common areas. Works is due to be completed later this month.
CB Richard Ellis in Leeds has been tasked with the design and project management of the 8,000 sq ft office space, which is valued at more than £500,000.
CB Richard Ellis’ office agency department have been appointed as sole letting agents for the vacant space on the ground, first and second floors upon completion of the refurbishment works.

STEEL fabricating firm Leeds Welding Co has acquired 13,209 sq ft of industrial space on Westland Square in Beeston, Leeds, as part of its ongoing expansion plans.
The vendor, Environmental Lining Systems Holdings, was advised by the industrial team at property consultant GVA Grimley in Leeds on the sale of units one and two.
Iain McPhail, principal surveyor at GVA Grimley, said: “We are delighted that we have secured a good result within a short timeframe for our client and have assisted in facilitating another local Leeds company grow their business.”

Specialist Tiling Products (STP) has become the latest addition to St James’s Business Park in Knaresborough.
The company’s new base boasts bigger warehousing, offices, meeting rooms and a trade counter selling its products, Mira X-Plan and Stonefix, as well as an array of tools.
STP’s commercial director Jason Ellis said: “The new office marks an exciting time for STP and its sister operations, Natural Stone Tiling Services and Natural Stone Cleaning Services.
“We have always specialised in the professional tiling industry, but the new trade counter gives us the space to offer the range of tools to suit a broader range of trades, such as plumbers, joiners and other tradesmen involved in kitchen and bathroom installations. As we deliver all over the UK, the proximity to the A1 is perfect for us.”
STP’s Stonefix range includes tile adhesives, grout, stone sealers and stone care products, thermal insulation boards and Stonefix Miracle Cloths.
