Coolpink acquired by Blue Logic

YORKSHIRE business Blue Logic Digital has acquired the brand and assets of Coolpink, the creative and digital marketing agency which recently collapsed.
The Leeds-based business, run by founder and managing director Mark Bower which employed around 12 staff and was established for more than a decade, shut down just before Christmas.
Coolpink’s demise was linked to its biggest client, furniture retailer DFS, moving all its work away from the agency and in house.
Prior to its collapse, the agency had annual turnover of around £1m and clients including Asda, Wren Kitchens, Bensons for Beds, paint group PPG and cooker manufacturer Smeg.
According to reports, there was “a lot of interest” in the agency. It is understood that within days of administrators being appointed there were around 20 interested parties.
Blue Logic Digital rebranded earlier this month from Blue Logic Hosted Services.
Its parent company, Blue Logic was founded in 2007 as an IT support and network solutions firm.
It announced a strong 2013, reporting an increase in turnover of £1m to £4.58m and increasing profit by 35%.
Over the same period – ending December 2013 – the company increased its employee count by almost 30%, taking the total to 55 and resulting in an office expansion to house the growing team.
Mark Rushworth, head of search at Blue Logic Digital, told TheBusinessDesk.com: “Coolpink were our neighbours and we didn’t want such a good, local brand to die.
“Our immediate concern was to ensure that Coolpink’s clients received a maintained service, but the integration of the brand is what we are working on now. The opportunities are yet to be discovered.
“The acquisition of the brand and assets fits nicely into where Blue Logic is now heading, as we continue to grow rapidly.”
Last year, Leeds-based Blue Logic also added some major clients to its roster – including Morrisons, the West Yorkshire Probation Trust and Eddisons Commercial. This means the company now has the capability to provide more sophisticated accounting IT solutions, further opening up its potential client base.
In 2014 the company expects to grow turnover by another £1m and take on further employees, creating a steady supply of local job opportunities.
Plans are also in place for a large office extension at Blue Logic’s head office, near Thorner, to cope with the rapid increase in staff.
