Crocodile promotes Tigers

BLUE Crocodile has been appointed by Castleford Tigers to promote the Super League team’s future commercial and sponsorship opportunities.

The Leeds-based sports agency is the brainchild of marketing and brand specialist Tony Stanton and the former Yorkshire and England wicket keeper Richard Blakey.

Blue Crocodile will be working with Castleford Tigers to maximise revenue opportunities, with particular regard to the club’s new stadium in Glasshoughton which is due for completion in 2010.

The agency will also be involved in securing naming rights for the new stadium.

Richard Wright, chief executive of Castleford Tigers, said: “The new stadium will be a real boost for Castleford Tigers, but it is also an asset we must use as effectively as possible to the benefit of the community. Richard and Tony have impressive track records and by working with them the club will be in a position to explore the full range of opportunities and new ideas. Blue Crocodile will be an important part of an exciting and successful future for Castleford Tigers.”

Richard Blakey of Blue Crocodile said: “Super League is growing year on year, and Castleford Tigers are ideally positioned to capitalise on this growth, with loyal support and the prospect of a brand new stadium. Blue Crocodile will work closely with the team and its management to enhance the club profile and income. It’s a great opportunity to pull together all the elements of Blue Crocodile’s experience to the benefit of one sporting organisation.”

Tony Stanton of Blue Crocodile added: “The new Castleford Tigers Stadium site is adjacent to Xscape in Glasshoughton, an entertainment destination which attracts more than four million visitors each year. It’s a location with great potential, and we will be working with the club to maximise the first-class commercial opportunities that this new stadium will offer.”
