JPG secures contract for retail scheme

CIVIL and structural engineering consultancy JPG has been appointed by Gregory Property Group to advise on its new development plans for a 50,000 retail park in Rotherham.
The instruction follows Gregory’s recent planning consent to develop the 3.87 acre site, next to Parkgate town centre, to deliver five new retail units, anchored by Aldi with the remaining space under offer to national operators.
Gregory Projects is working in collaboration with land owner and local business Ron Hull Jnr to deliver the development. The site, at the corner of Broad Street (A633) and Great Eastern Way (A6123) is just one mile from Rotherham town centre and was formerly owned by Pendragon and operated as a car showroom. The site was remediated two years ago and has been vacant since.
JPG is providing advice on civil and structural aspects for the development with respect to the buildings structures, below ground drainage and surface water attenuation. JPG is also providing expertise to identify and address any issues relating to ground conditions due to the historic use of the site and previous coal mining activity. The buildings will be of steel frame construction with elevations clad with composite panelling and glazing to the architects details.
Gary Howarth, director at JPG said: “We are extremely pleased that our established partnership with Gregory Property Group continues with success and remain committed to deliver very specialist expertise and collaborative support to enable the group to fulfil its ongoing site ambitions. We have a strong portfolio of retail development achievements across Yorkshire.”
