Teams continue to line up for charity challenge

THIRTY-TWO teams have already entered into this summer’s Run For All Leeds 10K Corporate Challenge which is set to take place in July.

For the eight successive year, the event is being sponsored by law firm Clarion, with TheBusinessDesk.com as media partner for the third year.

Recycling and green energy specialist the Leo Group is entering a team of 15 runners. This will be the third year Leo Group – which last month told TheBusinessDesk.com it was looking to make an overseas acquisition as part of its strategy to continue its expansion into international markets – has taken part and it will be raising money for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal. In 2012 the firm raised £3,800 and last year raised more than £10,000, being crowned the top fundraiser.

“We’re hoping to raise even more money for this fantastic cause this year,” said Halifax-based Leo Group’s Melanie Rosser.

Also taking part this year is North Yorkshire based Viking Arms – a distribution company representing some of the world’s leading manufacturers within the shooting sports, law enforcement and military markets. Incorporated in 1965 by the late Geoffrey Brown the company began by being the first UK distributor of Sturm, Ruger & Co. In 1982 the company moved to its own purpose built premises on the New York Industrial Estate.

Holly Robinson of Viking Arms said: “We are very proud to both work with and support the UK MOD and for this reason will be running the 2014 Leeds 10K in support of the Royal British Legion for their 100 year anniversary.

“This year we have record number of 13 (lucky for some?) staff running in the event. Last year was our first foray into the event and for many of us our first ever experience in running. The road has been long and hard but after raising over £1,000 for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre in 2013 the ‘bug’ has taken hold and we are set for a new team challenge.”

Organisers are hopeful that this year’s field will be even larger than the 850 corporate runners who took part in the 2013 Corporate Challenge. The event takes place on Sunday, July 20.

Teams taking part can enjoy corporate hospitality on the race day, as well as a pre-event social evening which is this year taking a cycling theme with a range of physical and mental challenges.

Run For All is part of Jane Tomlinson’s lasting legacy. Jane Tomlinson raised £1.85m for children’s and cancer charities before her untimely death from cancer aged just 43 in 2007.
