Property people: CBRE; Eddisons; Williamsons Solicitors

PROPERTY firm CBRE has announced the promotion of four staff in its Leeds office as the company reports a successful first quarter of 2014 with robust revenue and earnings growth.

Jonathan Shires has been promoted to senior director and Steve Taylor, Nick Marsden and Lloyd Nicholson all to associate director.

The promotions follow the firm’s recent national announcement that CBRE Group reported revenue of $1.9b in the quarter period ending March 31, a 26% increase on the same quarter last year.

Managing director of CBRE’s Leeds office Richard Sunderland, said: “The Leeds office has enjoyed a great start to the year with several new people joining the team in response to client demand for our varied service lines. The recent promotions demonstrate our commitment to progressing our valued team members through the business.

“The outlook for the property sector within the Yorkshire region continues to be boosted by the increasing take-up levels and returning confidence amongst occupiers. Investment into the city continues with the likes of Bridges at Airedale House, Network Rail at No. 1 Aire Street and Evans at Bond Court – all of which increases the city’s appeal. The retail and leisure boost provided by Trinity and the First Direct Arena continues to filter though the channels and gives the city greater visibility on a much broader scale.”

CHARTERED surveyors Eddisons, which has its head office is in Leeds, has announced a number of promotions.

Steven Jones (Agency), Shazad Mahmood (Agency), Richard Temple (Machinery and Business Assets), David Cran (Valuations) and Richard Smithers (Technology and Systems Development), have been made associate directors.

They are amongst ten promotions which Eddisons has made across its different offices and business divisions.

Eddisons has also expanded the agency team in Leeds with the appointment of graduate surveyor Jack Hutchinson who joins from Walker Singleton.

GEMMA Foster has joined the Driffield office of Williamsons Solicitors following an upturn in the region’s property market.

Foster will advise on residential conveyancing and commercial property matters, including acquisitions and leases.

She has been employed with Williamsons for six years in Hull, initially as a trainee and then as a solicitor.

Foster started her training contract with Williamsons in 2008, initially working in the family department, before moving to the firm’s commercial property department.

ESTATE agent Lancaster Samms has expanded its team with a new appointment.

Elkie Buckland has been recruited as sales consultant by the York-based agent.

She joins Lancaster Samms, founded in 2012 by joint directors Charlie Lancaster and Neil Samms, from another York estate agents.

Charlie Lancaster said: “We’ve seen continuous growth since we launched and the increasing confidence in the housing market, including from developers, has led us to make this appointment which will free up the directors’ time for developing the business.”
