Berkeley snaps up leisure parks

THE Berkeley Leisure Group has boosted its Yorkshire presence after acquiring a trio of residential park home estates in a multi-million pound deal.

The acquisition of three residential mobile home parks in Yorkshire and a further park in Cumbria will provide more than 600 additional pitches for the company which has specialised in park home living since 1955.

The deal sees Berkeleyparks add to its existing portfolio of 46 residential park home estates.

Three residential mobile home parks have been bought near Huddersfield, Leeds and Doncaster known as Hill Tree Park, Cliff Top Park and Palm Grove Court Park.

The acquisition of West Shore Park on Walney Island, Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria provides Berkeleyparks with one of the largest mobile home parks in England.

Edwards and Partners, a specialist division of Sanderson Weatherall, brokered the deal.

William Reynolds at Edwards and Partners, who specialises exclusively in the sale and valuation of caravan parks, said: “This sale demonstrates the unabated appetite for well-located parks throughout the UK. Demand from investors and occupiers is such that caravan and mobile home parks remain highly sought after. Demand is expected to strengthen further as the economic upturn takes firm hold.”

Paul Tarr of The Berkeley Leisure Group added: “For some time we have been looking to strengthen our presence in the north of England. The parks provide a high quality environment and enable Berkeleyparks to further enhance the variety of locations it can offer in this growing market. We are delighted to welcome approximately 1000 new residents to our company.”
