A NEW healthy eatery that has opened at the Merrion Centre in Leeds plans to open another ten outlets, as sales exceed expectations.
Pita Pit, which has 490 stores worldwide, has chosen Leeds as the location for its second UK branch. Pita Pit created five more jobs than originally predicted in Leeds – 15 new roles have been filled.
More than 400 pittas were served on the grand opening and since then, the branch has been consistently selling more than 300 every weekday, which is twice as many as the average Pita Pit outlet sells in one day.
The business now has plans to open another ten Pita Pits in Leeds over the next five years.

TWO new Hull business have teamed up to deliver a unique experience for discerning diners.
Tapasya Restaurant and Bar, which opened late last year as the region’s first Indian fine-dining venue, has partnered with Atom Beers, which opened in Hull at the beginning of this year and brews ales specifically suited to accompany curry.
The result is the addition of two Tapasya brand beers to the restaurant’s extensive drinks list – a pale ale which is already proving a big hit with diners and drinkers, and a porter which packs cardamom and coriander to complement the food.
Director Mukesh Tirkoti said: “There are a lot of small, independent breweries in Hull and East Yorkshire but we approached Atom initially because they are just round the corner – we are on Beverley High Road and they are on Sutton Fields. Then we found out they have put a lot of effort into producing beer which goes very well with curry – they even use the same ingredients as us in some of their beers.”
