Construction firm scoops £4m of new orders

CONSTRUCTION firm Hobson & Porter has secured six new contracts with a value of more than £4m.

The contracts include work on the new and refurbished fitness facilities at Beverley Leisure Complex for East Riding of Yorkshire Council (worth £1m) and 15 affordable bungalows and two community rooms at Larne Road and Weaver Grove, Hull, for Pickering & Ferens Homes (worth £1.7m).

Managing director Graham Beal said: “These awards are further testimony to Hobson and Porter’s ability to undertake a diverse range of works.  Furthermore, the location of the sites, all in or around Hull, ensures continuity of work for our local labour force, which continues to be one of our key objectives.”

Formed in 1971 by chairman Peter Hobson, Hobson & Porter remains a family owned and managed construction company, and now employs more than 120 staff, operating from its head office on the Sutton Fields Industrial Estate in Hull. The company has a turnover of around £30m.
