Conviviality goes large with new concept

BARGAIN Booze’s parent company Conviviality Retail is launching a new brand with the first shop in Wakefield.

BB’s Warehouse will offer a wide range of stock and bulk deals. It is promising a 400-strong wine range and 200 types of different beers.

The shop is one of 31 Rhythm and Booze outlets the business acquired from Bibby Retail for £1.7m in May, but there are no plans at present to rebrand others in the portfolio. A spokesman said Conviviality has not announced how many it will open or how much it will invest.

The Crewe-based group now has 595 shops with 427 run by franchisees. BB’s Warehouse is run by the company but it may open the concept up to franchisees in the future.

Chief executive Diana Hunter said: “It’s a simple proposition: the more you buy the more you save. The concept is unique and allows us to give shoppers unrivalled value, quality and choice. With more than 800 lines, there’s something for everyone and every occasion, from everyday beer or wine favourites to something special that you might be surprised to find on the high street. Shoppers can make huge savings by either buying cases in bulk, or by taking advantage of our mix and match multibuy offer on singles.”

She added: “We’re confident that this concept is going to be a success with shoppers. We’re on the hunt for more sites this year, targeting space around 3,000 sq ft that also offers parking. This concept may also be available to franchisees in the future.”
