Baby brand booms in Far East

CLOTHING and nursery retailer Mamas & Papas has signed an agreement which will see an initial twelve Mamas & Papas stores open over a five-year period throughout Singapore and Hong Kong.

The Huddersfield-based company, whose customers include Stella McCartney, Gwen Stefani and Victoria Beckham, said the deal allowed it to secure a significant foothold in the Far East which tied in with its global expansion plans.

The agreement with ImaginAsia Group Pte raises Mamas & Papas trade opportunities for wholesale and retail to 30 countries.

Richard Faulkner, Mamas & Papas deputy chief executive said: “ImaginAsia is similar to Mamas & Papas in that it is part of a successful family owned business that strives to achieve the same values. The store openings in Singapore and Hong Kong fulfil a strategic opportunity for Mamas & Papas, as this opens the doorway for our brand to achieve visibility in this important part of the world”.

Ann Leong, chief executive officer of the ImaginAsia Group said: “We have realised for some time that an opportunity existed for the designer nursery market in these territories and we are delighted to have the opportunity to satisfy that demand by launching a structured programme of Mamas & Papas stores.”
