Jobs created as ethnic retailer opens new store

A SPECIALIST ethnic retailer and wholesale Halal meat supplier has created 35 jobs as it opens a new superstore after securing funding from HSBC.

Bradford-based Pakeezah Group’s new store on Ingleby Road will see the family-run company increase its international trading operations, with much of the ethnic varieties of food for the new outlet being imported from Asia.

The opening marks the start of a new relationship, with Pakeezah Group switching to HSBC for all its banking services in preparation for further expansion.

Tariq Haq, director of Pakeezah Group, said: “With so many of our products imported from Asia, the international element of our business is key to the success of our new superstore and further expansion, so we’re keen to have a banking partner that can support on an international, as well as domestic, scale.”

Mark Vines, HSBC regional commercial director for Yorkshire, said: “We are delighted to have supported the Pakeezah Group in its new superstore and to have become its sole banking partner.”

In addition to Pakeezah Stores, the group also includes Pakeezah Meat, a processing company with a £6.8m turnover, and property holding company Haq Properties.
