Boutique hotel to reopen

A YORKSHIRE boutique hotel whose owner went into administration is set to reopen.

Thirty-five bedroom The New Ellington will feature The Gin Bar and a restaurant which will use ingredients sourced from Yorkshire.

The New Ellington in Leeds, operated by Bespoke Hotels, will open on Monday.

The hotel’s predecessor, The Ellington, opened under the management of Pantin Hotels in September 2008 but closed five months later after a number of companies which owned the hotel went into administration.

The Ellington had included a 56-seater restaurant overseen by world famous chef Albert Roux.

Stuart Ward, general manager at The New Ellington, said: “The Gin Bar and The Restaurant at The New Ellington offer something new for Leeds. The high quality food and the bar’s concept – unique to the region – were specifically designed to appeal to the local community.

“We’ve had a great deal of interest so far and we expect to become very popular with the after-work, evening and weekend crowds.”

The hotel’s head chef James Cooper is formerly of  Middlethorpe Hall in York, The Bishops Table, Crathorne Hall Hotel and The Monks Table.

The Gin Bar will serve 16 different varieties of gin and a cocktail menu of champagne and classic cocktails, martinis and fine wines.

Pantin Hotels claimed it itself was not in financial difficulties when the hotel closed.
