£1.5m cash injection for Avocet

AN organisation that caters for vulnerable people has been given a cash injection of £1.5m, including £400,000 for a new training centre and agricultural nursery.
The funding from the South Yorkshire Corporate Banking Centre of The Co-operative Bank in Sheffield will help Hull-based Avocet Trust to build the new facilities at Neat Marsh, where residents can study for an NVQ in agriculture while learning the trade with ‘hands on’ work in the nursery facility.
In the longer term, Avocet intends to create the Neat Marsh Country Park, which will be specifically designed for vulnerable people, including the physically disabled.
This will provide purpose-built holiday homes and other facilities such as horse riding for wheelchair dependant people.
Les Howell, chief executive at Avocet Trust, said: “These people deserve the very best in accommodation and education facilities, so it is important for us to have a strong relationship with John Asplin at The Co-operative Bank who continues to support our work.”
