Family business goes for growth as it moves into new premises

BATHROOM and heating retailer BMF has moved into new premises as it looks to take the business to the next level.

The firm, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary, was previously based in Moortown and has relocated into 4,000sq ft premises on Meanwood Road in Leeds.

The new premises sees the business quadruple the size of its previous showrooms, as it aims to become the region’s leading retailer and installer of premium bathroom and heating products.

The move has been supported by a grant from the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership’s (LEP) Business Growth Programme which is funded by the Government’s Regional Growth Fund (RGF).

Set up in 1994 by father Michael Freeman, it is now run by his three children Paul, Ben and Sam.

Paul Freeman, co-owner of BMF, said: “The new building will allow us to take our business to the next level and we are delighted to at last be opening the doors. The building was previously a TV recording studio so we have been renovating it for the last nine months, to make sure it suited our purposes, both internally and externally. Hopefully it’s now a very eye-catching fixture on one of Leeds’ major roads.

“The extra space will allow us to showcase more products, and work with more suppliers to offer our customers the widest choice possible. Already we have attracted new ranges from premium suppliers such as Chesneys and Planika, which are not available anywhere else in the city. We are seeing customers contact us from a much wider geographical spread too – in fact, nationwide. We’re also looking to grow the business through offering more zero interest finance deals across our range of products and services.”

Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership chair, Roger Marsh, added: “BMF is a business with ambitious growth plans and it is with great pleasure the LEP has been able to facilitate part of this growth strategy through our grant Programme.

“The LEP has recently received a further £8m from the government for Business Growth Programme and will continue to support growing businesses in the region, such as BMF, that will go on to create new jobs and benefit the regional economy.”
