Food retailer plans to double size of store

FROZEN yoghurt bar business Yoghies is doubling its retail space thanks to a successful first month of trading.

Yoghies, which signed a deal with The Core Shopping Centre to sell its range of frozen yoghurts and milkshakes from a 500 sq ft retail unit made its debut on The Headrow in Leeds at the end of June, but now, it will double the retail space and move into 1,150 sq ft premises in The Core’s food cluster, which is currently undergoing a £2.4m refurbishment project.

The Core will welcome the newly expanded Yoghies in December.

The multi-million pound investment project at the shopping centre has been designed to create eight new food outlet spaces.

Nicola Lavelle, property manager at The Core Shopping Centre, said: “We believe the success of Yoghies is down to its position within the city, alongside great food and service. We look forward to welcoming Yoghies into larger premises in The Core and supporting its future growth strategy. It’s an exciting time for The Core, with new retailers coming on board and existing retailers, including Game resigning leasing contracts.”

A spokesperson from Yoghies added: “Doubling our retail space opens up some exciting opportunities for Yoghies, including new job opportunities. We have ambitious growth plans and we look forward to the move and what the future holds.”
