Yorkshire healthcare business makes acquisition

YORKSHIRE NHS transport provider ERS Medical has acquired a business in the North East.

Leeds-based ERS Medical provides a range of specialist patient transport and courier services to the NHS and the wider healthcare sector along with mobile event medical cover for a wide number of sporting venues and occasions. It has bought Durham-based Medical Services (North East), which provides non-emergency patient transport to NHS Trusts, PCTs, local authorities and private hospitals across the North East, for an undisclosed sum.

ERS Medical’s managing director Brendan Fatchett said: “This acquisition is another exciting chapter in our business’ growth and allows us to build on our existing national patient care offering, continuing our excellent standard of care using MSNE’s additional resource and capabilities.”

Medical Services (North East)’s managing director Wayne Hall added: “The decision to be part of the ERS Medical team was an easy one and we look forward to being part of the leading ambulance service in this country. Our relationships with hospitals and CCGs across the North East together with the additional capabilities and structure ERS Medical has already will be a huge step forward for both our staff and customers.”

Benchmark International advised on the sale.

ERS, founded in 2012, employs more than 1,300 staff, including paramedics, technicians and nurses. It operates from 30 sites across the UK.
