Work kicks off at Humber energy park

WORK has started at Able UK’s £450m Marine Energy Park on the Humber.

The infrastructure development programme, which is being supported by a £15m grant provided through the Government’s Enterprise Zone Foundations for Growth Capital Grant Fund, is underway.

A joint parliamentary committee gave the scheme the go-ahead last week, following objections from ABP.

Neil Etherington, Able’s group development director, said: “Our programme of construction works at Able Humber Port will be on-going for the next five years, creating 350 full-time equivalent jobs—and the overall AMEP project is set to deliver over 4,000 direct jobs as well providing the catalyst for growing the Humber as the UK’s Energy Estuary.”

The site in Immingham is part of the UK’s largest Enterprise Zone and is planned to cover 906 acres, providing 1,279 metres of quayside facilities purpose built for the manufacture, assembly and installation of offshore renewable technologies.
