EEF buys NDI for undisclosed sum

MANUFACTURERS in Yorkshire now have “even greater clout” after the trade body that represents their interests bought a rival organisation.

EEF has acquired the ownership and day-to-day management of NDI from BE Group for an undisclosed sum.

NDI is the trade body that represents companies involved in the defence, aerospace, space and security sectors.

It will continue to operate as a separate organisation within EEF.

Andy Tuscher, Yorkshire and Humber region director at EEF, said: “This is great news for members and for our sector.

“This union between two well-established and highly-respected organisations will see support for industry bolstered, both nationally and regionally.

“It’s an exciting development and we look forward to welcoming NDI members on board and further supporting their ambitions for growth.”

Tuscher added that the acquisition evidenced the EEF’s commitment to the North East, Yorkshire and Humber regions, which have traditionally been NDI-membership strongholds.

Earlier this year, EEF made another investment in the region when it appointed Liz Mayes to a newly created North East region director role, allowing the existing director- Mr Tuscher – to focus his attention solely on Yorkshire and Humber.

Dave Townsley, NDI’s executive director, said: “This move is about joining forces and ensuring our members can enjoy even greater clout.

“It comes at a critical time with manufacturing playing a vital role in the economy, both nationally and regionally.

“This makes it even more important for our member companies to be supported and for their voice to be heard.”
