LAW firm Gateley has hired three new senior staff members to coincide with its office move.

On Monday, the company moved to the Minerva building in the centre of Leeds – doubling its office space.It has moved from Toronto Square where it is sub-letting its previous 3,880 sq ft office.

The firm has welcomed associate, Joanne Sears, and solicitors, Becky Shepherd and Emma Taylor, to its residential development (RDU) team.

William Ballmann, corporate recovery partner and head of the Leeds office, said: “We are delighted to have secured the lease at Minerva – having entered the Yorkshire market in 2012, the Leeds office has become a genuine success story for the region. In less than three years the team has grown to four times its original size”

The chief executive of the Leeds and Yorkshire Housing Association (LYHA) – Lisa Pickard – has been appointed to the board of national tenant association TPAS.

TPAS represents 1,750 tenant and residents groups and 220 landlords. Its mission is to “promote effective tenant involvement and empowerment” and the TPAS board is responsible for setting the organisation’s strategic direction.

Celebrating 20 years in housing this year, Pickard was appointed chief executive of LYHA, which owns and manages over 1,200 homes across Yorkshire, in 2012.

She said: “I am delighted to be appointed to the Board of TPAS, an organisation I have supported throughout my career and one which I think is needed within the social housing sector. Its work is vital in supporting landlords to genuinely engage customers and in supporting tenants to ensure they have a voice; not only with their landlord but within their communities as well as nationally.”

Property consultancy GVA has expanded its Yorkshire teams following a period of sustained growth.

GVA’s Leeds-based valuation team is expanding with the promotion of Jared Thompson to director to head up the team and the recruitment of Jamie Gellert as senior surveyor. 

Chris Jones, who joined GVA in 2013, will now work alongside director Dale Robinson in driving forward the planning, development and regeneration functions across the Yorkshire and Humber region. 

Paul Manning, regional senior director at GVA in Leeds, said: “Both Chris and Jared are well known and trusted by their many clients in Leeds – they are both leading their teams at an exciting point in the market cycle and have  plans to further expand the teams in the short term future and explore new areas of work.”

Experienced property professional Michael Leighton has been appointed to head up Dacre Son and Hartley’s Keighley office.

Leighton – who lives in Cross Hills and previously worked for The Green Partnership – has over 10 years of residential agency experience.

He will manage a team of four from the office which is based on North Street.

He said: “I was keen to join Dacres as it’s the leading agent in the area and a really professional outfit. The opportunities and professional development available are particularly exciting and I am delighted to be working for such a well-established and forward-thinking firm.”

Leeds-based Ison Harrison Solicitors has extended its commercial property operation by appointing Sean Gallagher to swell the existing team to six.

Gallagher specialises in site acquisitions and infrastructure agreements, ancillary contracts, commercial landlord and tenant transactions, lease renewals and placement of bank securities.

He said: “I was very impressed with Ison Harrison’s friendly, uncomplicated and energetic approach, and its reputation for being straight talking and clear thinking.
