In Brief: Leeds Met name change, Del Monte says yes, and more
LEEDS Metropolitan University will now be known as Leeds Carnegie University after governors voted to approve the name change.

LEEDS Metropolitan University will now be known as Leeds Carnegie University after governors voted to approve the name change.

Around 4,000 students, staff, alumni and partners took part in the consultation with more than 70% favouring the chosen name change. The proposal will now be submitted to the Privy Council for consideration and approval.

FRUIT giant Del Monte’s entrance into the frozen fruit market will be helped by Leeds-based branding and design consultants the SPIRIT of…, which will handle its marketing.

The group, which has already developed packaging for the new products, will handle the £1m launch. It will be work with Leeds-based PR agency MCG to promote the products across the trade and consumer media.

DAVID Lindsell has today been appointed as a non-executive director of Drax. 

In addition to his appointment to the board, Mr Lindsell has also been appointed a member of each of Drax’s audit, nomination and remuneration committees.

PRIMEAST, the Harrogate-based business learning and coaching company, has appointed Russell Evans as managing director.

Mr Evans, 46, who joined Primeast in 2005 as a senior consultant, is a specialist in leadership and team development and will now take responsibility for the 10-strong team in Harrogate and a global network of 130 consultants.

Outgoing managing director Clive Wilson has become deputy chairman and will concentrate on expanding the company’s client base in Africa.

Working with major organisations and 150 international associates, the consultancy has delivered bespoke training and coaching to major organisations including Chevron Texaco, Shell, the British Council and Novartis.
