Regeneration of town gears up

THE next stage of Bridlington’s regeneration will begin next month, helping to create the right conditions for developers to invest in the Yorkshire town.

This next stage will include the first phase of demolition of properties in the town centre and an exhibition outlining proposals for the second phase of the Bridlington Integrated Transport Plan.

The projects form part of the council’s Area Action Plan (AAP) for the town with the long-term aim of regenerating Bridlington and to enable major improvements to the road network.

Councillor Stephen Parnaby, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “This work will bring real long-term benefit to Bridlington and help to create the right conditions for developers to invest in the town. I am delighted that things are moving forward and the work shows that this council and its partners have a real commitment to invest in the town’s regeneration.”

The package of work is part of the Bridlington Integrated Transport Plan (ITP) and has a programme allocation in the Local Transport Board plan, subject to final approvals from the Humber Local Economic Partnership (LEP). The improvement to access and traffic flow around Bridlington will allow sites to come forward for redevelopment and allow access for new areas of car parking.
