York retail space let

OAKGATE Group, the Wetherby-based property development and investment company, has let 2,500 sq ft of ground floor and basement retail space at 5 Kings Square, York, to St Pauls Roman Catholic Bookshop.

The shop was formerly Toyworld.

St Paul’s is paying an annual rent of £60,000 a year for a 10-year lease. The agents for Oakgate were Central Retail.

Alison Stewart, property director of Oakgate, said: “Although these are difficult economic times, due to the more widely reported catastrophes of the banking sector, there remains an underlying demand for good shops, which are still sought after in central York.

“There are deals to be done, provided the product is right. It’s great to have St Pauls Bookshop in our property in York.”
