Yorkshire told to get ready for high speed rail

A PACKAGE of investment has been unveiled in Yorkshire today to prepare the region for the arrival of high speed rail.
Sir David Higgins, the boss of HS2, will produce a report on how Leeds station can be transformed to prepare for high speed rail.
It is part of a package of infrastructure announcements, including the electrification of the line between Selby and Hull.
David Cameron and George Osborne have outlined their ambitions to get 100,000 more people across the region into work by 2020, improve transport connectivity, and back science, local tech start-ups and creative industries.
Meanwhile, Leeds City Region LEP was celebrating today after securing £17.5m in Government funding for businesses to boost skills.
