Football club’s sponsor’s cup runs over after Chelsea shock

BRADFORD CITY’S sponsor Autoelectro is giving the credit to its recent sales boost to the football club’s remarkable FA Cup victory over Chelsea.

The League One side came back from 2-0 down away at the Premier League giants to win 4-2 in the fourth round of the competition in a result which earned international media coverage.

Shirt sponsor Autoelectro, which remanufactures starter motors and alternators and is based in the city, says it has seen the benefits of that with sales enquiries up 20% and sales from existing customers up 10% in the fortnight since the match.

Autoelectro’s managing director Tony Bhogal said: “We took over the shirt sponsorship of the Bantams this year, knowing that it would help give us more national brand awareness. The win over Chelsea, though, has effectively given us broad scale mainstream television advertising at a fraction of the price we would have expected to pay.

“So, not only have we been able to support the good people of Bradford by backing their football team, but we have started to see a very real business benefit with new enquiries up 20% over the last week, and a 10% growth in actual orders from existing customers.”

Mr Bhogal added he was “looking forward” to Sunday’s fifth round match against Sunderland, when he will be hoping for another cup shock.
